Our Model

With a focus on well-being and creativity, we lift spirits, build confidence, and stimulate cognitive function. At the same time, our approach reduces depression and hospitalizations.

Iona’s award-winning Wellness & Arts Center provides older family members a reason to get up in the morning, enjoy activities, and make new friends, all while under the care of compassionate nurses and other staff.

Since 1986, Iona has welcomed older adults with Alzheimer’s, other forms of dementia, physical challenges, and intellectual disabilities to our Wellness & Arts Center—our adult day health program.

At the same time, caregivers find peace of mind and much-needed respite from caregiving which, in turn, gives them renewed energy to care for their family members, who can continue to live at home.

“Many people see only the things someone with dementia or physical challenges can’t do. We see all the things they CAN do.”

—Sharon O’Connor, Director Iona’s Wellness & Arts Center

“Sally White recognized the need for an adult day center East of the River and figured out a way to make it happen. And she did that not by coming in as an outsider and telling us what to do, but by working with residents and community partners to identify what we needed.

That is the power of Iona.”

– Mae Best, Executive Director, East River Family Strengthening Collaborative, Inc.

Iona is poised to bring its model Wellness & Arts Center to Southeast Washington. If, like us, you believe that all residents deserve the very best, we hope you will join us in the creation of Iona East.
